Welcome.  I'm Mel, the heart and hands behind Heartwood Essence. My path has been one of deep listening... to the forest, to the unseen, to the living intelligence held within every root, resin, and petal.  What began as a profound personal journey into healing has grown into something I now hold as both vocation and devotion.

As a Shamanic Practitioner, I walk between worlds working within the traditions of journeying, energy clearing, and spiritual guidance.  As a Reiki and Seichim Master Teacher, I hold space for the gentle yet transformative flow of universal life-force energy.  And as a Spiritual Energy Healer, I  work directly with the subtle energy body, the aruic field, the chakras, the energetic imprints we carry, to release what no longer serves and restore wholeness.  These rivers meet and move as one in my practice, both pointing toward the same truth... that healing is a remembering of what we have always been.

 ~Plants are not just medicine — they are messengers. Each essential oil, each hydrosol, each resin carries a frequency, a story, a way back to wholeness.~

Aromatherapy entered my life not as a separate discipline, but as a natural extension of the same sacred thread. The earth has always offered its wisdom through scent. Long before clinical studies confirmed what indigenous and traditional cultures knew, plants were used in ceremony, ritual, and healing. At Heartwood Essence, I honour that lineage, sourcing essential oils, hydrosols, herbs, attars, and resins that are ethically sourced, certified organic, or wildcrafted where possible, and chosen with reverence for both the plant and the people who tend it.

Everything in my shop exists within a sacred web of intention.  Whether you're drawn to a grounding cedarwood oil, a heart-opening rose hydrosol, or the ancient resinous depth of frankincense, you are engaging with something alive, something that bridges the physical and the energetic, the everyday and the sacred.

I believe healing is not something done to you... it is something that awakens within you. My role, whether through a carefully formulated blend, a one-to-one energy healing session, or a workshop circle, is simply to create the conditions for that awakening.  To clear the path. To tend the roots.  To allow growth and remembering.

Heartwood Essence is an expression of that belief. A space where ancient plant wisdom and modern energetic healing coexist, where the scent of wild-harvested sandalwood and the stillness of a Reiki session speak the same language.  I am deeply grateful you have found your way here.
