Aromatic Description: Fresh, cooling, menthol-like, peppermint-like, campherous, eucalyptus.

Colour/Characteristic: Colourless

Main Chemical Constituents: 1,8-cineole, α-pinene, limonene, para-cymene, 

Blends Well With: Lavender, black pepper, rosemary, thyme, cedarwood, niaouli, peppermint, lime, lemon, lemon myrtle

Properties/Uses: Analgesic, antimicrobial, antibacterial, anti-inglammatory, antirheumatic, stimulant.  Eucalyptus kochii essential oil may be used to help relieve the symptoms of colds, flus, respiratory conditions, oral hygiene and lice infestations. 

Energetics: May be used to relieve melancholia, to restore vitality and positivity.  To encourage confidence when faced with obstacle and challenges especially if they are causing confusion, negativity or ambiguity.  Eucalyptus is very clearing, it can help clear mental fogginess, fatigue, confusion, poor focus and forgetfulness.  May be used to cleanse a place where there has been conflict or where we feel negative energies or energetic blockages. 

Use: diffuser, direct inhalation, compress, steam inhalation, diluted and applied to skin, salves, ointments.

Safety: Non-toxic, non-irritant, non-sensitising.  It is recommended that eucalyptus oil preparations should not be applied to the face, especially the nose of infants or young children, by the WHO (World Health Organisation).  It is recommended not to use this essential oil on children under the age of 3 years, if inhaled the vapour may cause spasm of the epiglottis triggering the cooling effect on the CNS and the respiratory system due to the 1,8-cineole.  Eucalyptus essential oil is classed as a schedule 6 poison in Australia 'having moderate potential for causing harm'.  Has GRAS status.

Conservation Status: Listed as Near Threatened on the IUCN red list.  Also states that the population is stable.
